Financial Resources for Parents of New Students

The best way to support your student is to be aware of all important dates and deadlines involved in the financial aid application and acceptance process. Allow your student to be in charge of finding and applying for scholarships. Simply support them by keeping them on track!

There are scholarships specifically designed for students based on many attributes, such as grade point average, ethnicity, volunteer work, and community service. The State of Oregon’s Office of Student Access and Completion can help Oregon students apply for grants, loans, and scholarships. There are also departmental scholarships offered based on a student’s major at the UO.

Familiarize yourself with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) deadlines to know how much money your student may be eligible to borrow. It is also important to know about the annual process of financial aid awards, scholarships, and grants. You can learn more about these and other money matters on our Financial Aid and Scholarships website.
