– Deadlines Extended –

Due to the delay in FAFSA data being supplied to the University of Oregon, the UO is extending the confirmation deadline to June 1, 2024, for first-year students admitted for fall 2024. We are also extending the priority FAFSA filing deadline to April 1, 2024, for all UO students.

Campus Safety

University of Oregon Police (UOPD)

We take campus and student safety seriously here at the University of Oregon. The UO Police Department (UOPD) is on call 24/7. There are yellow emergency call boxes around campus that students may use should they ever feel unsafe. Each call box is connected to UOPD dispatchers, who send an officer to the student’s location on campus. UOPD also offers safety escorts.

Residence Halls

All residence halls require key or key-card access for entry. This means only students who live in a specific hall will have access to enter their hall.

Resident Assistants (RAs) are here to make students feel safe and welcome. Up to two RAs live on each floor of each residence hall. They are there to help students navigate residence life and all it has to offer. RAs require each of their residents to have a quick check-in meeting with them each term. RAs also staff an on-call phone number 24 hours a day. Students can call to connect with an RA if they need urgent help.

We have other resources to ensure your student feels safe here. For example, the Women’s Center offers a transportation service called Safe Ride, a free shuttle service for UO students, faculty, and staff covering a three-mile radius around the Eugene campus. They are available to students every night of the week.

The UO also offers the Designated Driver Shuttle (DDS) to students. It operates every night from 10:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. DDS picks students up to take them home. This service prevents any student from drinking and driving or putting themselves in other unsafe driving situations. Students may call DDS at 541-346-7433.
