University of Oregon Police (UOPD)
We take campus and student safety seriously here at the University of Oregon. The UO Police Department (UOPD) is on call 24/7. There are yellow emergency call boxes around campus that students may use should they ever feel unsafe. Each call box is connected to UOPD dispatchers, who send an officer to the student’s location on campus. UOPD also offers safety escorts.
Residence Halls
All residence halls require key or key-card access for entry. This means only students who live in a specific hall will have access to enter their hall.
Resident Assistants (RAs) are here to make students feel safe and welcome. Up to two RAs live on each floor of each residence hall. They are there to help students navigate residence life and all it has to offer. RAs require each of their residents to have a quick check-in meeting with them each term. RAs also staff an on-call phone number 24 hours a day. Students can call to connect with an RA if they need urgent help.
Transportation
We have other resources to ensure your student feels safe here. Duck Rides is a free nighttime transportation service for University of Oregon students and employees. Rides can be scheduled in the Duck Rides app or by calling 541-346-7433 during operating hours, 6:00 p.m.–midnight, seven days a week when classes are in session.
