"I came to the UO in the fall of 2014 as a freshman. While of course I was excited to come here, I was more nervous than anything. My transition into student life was not an easy one. It took a lot longer than I anticipated to get totally used to being here. My “aha” moment of feeling a true sense of belonging finally came fall term of my second year on campus when I started getting more heavily involved in campus organizations. Being a part of those campus organizations and ultimately taking up leadership roles within them has led me to meet some of the best friends I have ever had, as well as gain an unbelievable support system. I love the UO because it has given me opportunities that I never would have explored otherwise. Getting involved on campus makes a difference in life not just as a student, but in finding community and having that “aha” moment."
