– Decision Day Extended –

Due to the delay in FAFSA data being supplied to the University of Oregon, the UO is extending the confirmation deadline to June 1, 2024, for first-year students admitted for fall 2024. Find the latest information about our FAFSA timeline and financial aid offers.

Summer Virtual IntroDUCKtion

Requirements

Before the end of virtual IntroDUCKtion programming, make sure that you have completed the following requirements:

  • Weekly Flock Meetings, each one hour
  • Eight Interest Sessions, each one hour. Visit our YouTube channel for the full video list.
  • Ten Faculty Perspectives, each one hour. Visit our YouTube channel for the full video list.
  • A short reflection about each Interest Session and Faculty Perspective that you attend on the Community website
  • Missed any more of our content? Check out our YouTube channel for all virtual programming from this past summer.

Schedule

  • Opening Session | Wednesday, June 24

To start off the summer, we hosted an opening session with university leadership, staff members, and our SOSers (the Student Orientation Staff). If you missed it, don't worry — you can view the recording on YouTube.

  • Flock Meetings | July–August

These are weekly one-hour Zoom meetings with your SOSer and other students in your class. They’ll include activities and discussions related to topics that will prepare you to be a Duck. Flock meetings will take place on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday based on the availability you submitted during registration. Students are required to attend all Flock meetings live; this must either be during their scheduled time or during a make-up Flock later in the week.

All programming for IntroDUCKtion (except Flock meetings) will have captioning. If you would like captioning for your Flock meetings, please email us at orientation@uoregon.edu.

    Meet the SOSers

  • Faculty Perspectives | Offered July 9–September 10

Every Thursday UO faculty from a variety of disciplines will teach a mock class. You will learn more about their research and get a taste of the college academic experience. At 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m, 3:00 p.m, and 4:30 p.m every Thursday, there will be a faculty presentation that you can tune into live or watch the recording on our YouTube channel afterward. Each student will be required to attend any 10 of these that they'd like. Learn more about how to receive one free credit for participating in Faculty Perspectives: IntroDUCKtion Colloquium.

After each presentation you attend, you must write a short reflection on your "IntroDUCKtion and Academic Advising" module on Canvas (log in with your Duck ID).

  • Interest Sessions | Offered July 10–September 4

Every Friday we will offer virtual interest sessions led by departments from across campus. These sessions will explain each department's role here on campus and provide various resources available to all students and family members. There will be 26 student-specific sessions but you will be required to attend only eight of them. If you are not able to tune in live, then you can watch the recording on our YouTube channel afterward. More information and details about the schedule are on the Interest Sessions page.

After each session you attend, you must write a short reflection on your "IntroDUCKtion and Academic Advising" module on Canvas (log in with your Duck ID).

  • Academic Advising Prep Module | Available July 15

Learn more about how advising works at the UO, explore your degree requirements, and get familiar with different tools and resources you will need prior to your advising session. Students must complete this required module in order to receive follow up information from an advisor. Students will begin receiving email correspondence from advisors starting in the first week of August regarding advising and registration.

  • Quick Quacks | Throughout the summer

Every Sunday you will receive a Quick Quack email that details the events for the upcoming week. After a Quick Quack has been sent out, it will be listed here for future access:

July 5 Quick Quack | July 12 Quick Quack | July 19 Quick Quack | July 26 Quick Quack | August 2 Quick Quack | August 9 Quick Quack | August 16 Quick Quack | August 23 Quick Quack | August 30 Quick Quack | September 6 Quick Quack | September 13 Quick Quack | September 18 Quick Quack

  • Optional Community Development | Throughout the summer

We’re offering a plethora of optional programming throughout the summer to connect you with the UO community. Since we can’t meet you in person as soon as we’d like, these sessions will allow you to build relationships with other students, faculty, and staff. For example, our Department of Physical Education and Recreation offers YouTube group fitness classes. Other programming can be found in the events calendar below.

  • Advising Session | Starting in August

As long as you complete your academic advising prep module AND all the July flock meetings, an academic advisor will contact you via your @uoregon.edu email starting the first week of August. All advising sessions will take place in the month of August based on the availability of academic advisors. Please note that even if you aren't able to sign up for a session in the beginning of August, you can still explore fall term class options on DuckWeb.

  • Course Registration | August 1–September 14

Once students have completed the advising module and attended an advising session, their academic advisor will enable them to enroll in fall term courses.

  • In-Person IntroDUCKtion | September

Once you arrive on campus and move into your residence hall, you’ll experience everything we weren’t able to cover remotely. We are working hard to ensure the health and safety of all participants.
